“Nature’s Object of Desire” is coming together at Art Suites Gallery Beyoğlu with a group exhibition consisting of works by Olga Alexopoulou, Sedat Akdoğan and Serkan Çalışkan between 5 December 2012 and 5 January 2013.
In recent years, we started to question nature more with the global crisis as a result of the loss of balance of the ecosystem around the world due to the accumulation of capital. The relationship between man and nature seems to be fragmented in general, thanks to the capital system, although nature, besides the blessings it offers us, also shows its destructive power against us at an unexpected moment.

In addition to the works of the artist Olga Alexopoulou on the effect of nature’s own internal dynamics, she reproduces some of her previous works as graffiti on the walls on the canvas surface in the same application style. In addition, he reminds the poetic serenity of the Far East paintings thanks to the strong storm connotation in his paintings and its abstract and pictorial effects.

Sedat Akdoğan questions the reasons that will make us think about nature in the digital age. He sets up his portrait with the insects trying to provide a living space under the drying soil. It’s like the spiritual reaction to the breakdown of nature. The relationship and references to nature of the symbols used by the artist in his digital works are quite thought-provoking.
Artist Serkan Çalışkan draws our attention with the writings and symbolic forms that he paints with a unique expert attitude and incorporates into the painting in his paintings that he examines on gender, identity and what the other is. The ironic names of the paintings are as a whole with the work produced, as if the basic building block of the work cannot be considered separately.
